What You’ll Do

Learn to recreate your favorite rolls and add homemade sushi to your home cooking repertoire with this hands-on cooking class from Chef Monica. With her expert guidance, you'll master various kitchen skills and learn to make sushi like a pro.

In this class, you'll get to practice knife skills and learn how to make the perfect sushi rice. You'll select and layer ingredients for a California roll and a classic vegetable roll. Then, you'll master the art of rolling artful, restaurant worthy rolls before you dig in!

Cooking classes on Classpop! are designed to be social events that do not require any previous experience. Guests are welcome to purchase alcoholic beverages from the venue to enjoy during the class.

Excellent experience! Loved the two sushi rolls we made. Chef Monica gave us easy-to-follow instructions and had a very friendly and positive attitude throughout our session! She helped each and every one of us and the whole experience was great. Bonus was the Japanese dessert in the end which was an absolute surprise since one of the participants was celebrating their birthday! Great experience, definitely worth a shot :D

Good tips on making maki rolls! All of the materials were provided and ingrediets prepped so it was easy and fun for us.

Monica is a very sweet lady but this event was a cluster. It’s not a “cooking class” with your own stations cooking your own dishes (which was probably to be expected, being held at a brewery). It’s a cooking demo with her doing the cooking. We did each peel and rice some potatoes and made our individual doughs, but she only had 2 small pots where she cooked two people’s gnocchi at a time. The class was very full with over 20 people, so cooking took forever and many just left without having her cook their pasta. Why else was it a cluster? She began the class close to on time, but 2 people were late so she started over. Then about 10min in, 2 others showed up and she said she’d start over again. We had to tell her do NOT start over for these late people! She did speak softly and even mentioned that some reviews were critical about that. To which she said, “but this is how I talk.” I would think if Classpop had that many complaints about it, they’d spring for a wireless headset microphone and small amplifier for ~$50. She was late with the cooking too because the potatoes wouldn’t boil on the portable burners she brought in. The gnocchi tasted great but it took way too long to get there. Not I'd ever do a similar class that’s not in a kitchen. Or at least market it for what it is and charge way less. This was too expensive for what you ultimately got, and again, many didn’t even eat because it was almost 9pm!
