Cooking Class: Introduction to Maki

The secrets of rolled sushi are easy to master with Chef Jinhe’s guidance.


Discover traditional Japanese culinary techniques from Chef Jinhe as you learn the finer points of sushi and maki preparation in this hands-on cooking class.


You’ll create a fresh, lively Japanese salad featuring mandarin oranges and fresh avocado before conquering the art of steaming sushi rice to the perfect consistency for your maki. Then, you’ll construct three sure-fire sushi favorites: A classic California roll, cucumber avocado rolls and rainbow maki, and whip up a unique Japanese dessert of coconut milk jelly with sugar.
