In this hands-on cooking class, Chef Robert highlights the culinary influence of France on cooking styles of the American South. Guests will practice foundational French techniques while preparing a cozy, home-style menu. Begin with a light arugula and pear salad before diving into heartier fare including shrimp and grits, a signature dish of the South, and a creamy soup with chicken and capers inspired by the traditional French coq au vin. For dessert, enjoy classic poached pears with smooth vanilla ice cream topped with rich chocolate sauce.

Chef Robert is a talented chef who had training in Italy learning things such as homemade pasta making. He has a sense of humor that makes his classes very enjoyable to be a part of. A great piece of advice I learned from him was to invest in several cookbooks and try new things! He gave me the confidence I needed to explore more in the kitchen.
Chef Robert’s passion for cooking has led him on many culinary pursuits throughout his career, the pinnacle of which was training in Italy for four months where he learned authentic techniques for pasta making and other rustic Italian cooking techniques. He now hopes to bring his own joy of cooking to others through immersive cooking classes and private chef experiences.
