Cooking Class: Spicy Asian Dishes

If spicy foods are your thing, then this cooking class is for you. Chef Mordechai has amped up the flavor of four classic Asian dishes with the addition of generous amounts of chili. You'll begin with spicy Korean chicken noodle soup balanced with a crunchy cucumber, chili and basil salad. Then, you'll prepare chicken or fish with a fermented black bean sauce and chili-forward seasonings. Finally, you'll make stir-fried eggplant with more chili seasoning. All these recipes also have a vegan option available.

Korean Chicken Noodle Soup

Substitute with vegetable soup 

With chilis, tomatoes, gochujang and gochutgaru


Cucumber Salad 

With chilis, sesame, Thai basil and dressing


Chicken or Fish in Fermented Black Bean Sauce

Substitute with tofu or tempeh 

With chilis, gochujang, fresh cilantro, garlic and ginger


Stir-Fried Japanese Eggplant  With Doenjang or Miso 

With chilis, fresh herbs, soy paste and ginger

We had so much fun celebrating my husband’s 60th with a few friends and Chef Mordechai. He was personable, engaging, knowledgeable, and most importantly, we now know how to make a few things without a recipe! (Okay I probably still will need it). A great way to celebrate an occasion!

Chef Mordechai came to our home for the Spicy Asian Menu and it was beyond an amazing experience. Not only was he extremely knowledgable and made delicious food, but he was a great guy as well. We had many laughs throughout the night and learned so much from him about the intricacies of this cuisine. He went in great depth of the various spices and their functionality, origin, etc. which was extremely educational and interesting. We also learned the similarities and differences between Korean, Japanese, & Chinese cuisine. All and all each course was absolutely delicious. We will absolutely be using him again in the future! Sammy and I HIGHLY recommend Chef Mordechai. -Rob
