Cooking Class: Make Asian Classics With Holiday Cheer

Bring some authentic Asian culinary flair to your festivities with the holiday-themed dishes you'll learn to make in this fun cooking class. An Asian-cuisine guru, Chef Harold will provide you with an insightful, exciting lesson and five delicious new recipes.

To start, you'll make an Asian classic: omurice, a delicate omelet served over rice. Your omurice will be teddy bear shaped, which sounds as cute as it looks! Next up, learn the secrets to simmering up restaurant-worthy ramen featuring miso, pork, garlic and hot peppers. Give sushi a new shape by arranging fresh ingredients like tuna tartare, seaweed, avocado, and green and red tobiko to create an impressive sushi candy cane. Learn how to make tasty musubi before ending the class with an indulgent fruit and chocolate ganache.

The class itself was interesting - we made two types of handrolls and one spicy tuna maki. But that part really only took 30 minutes. The class could have been more efficient. The first 20 minutes or so were spent introducing the chef and his history. While that was interesting, it was hard to hear over the bar music. I recommend having a slide show or some visuals to make that part go more smoothly. The hands-on portion of the class was the most interesting part.

Chef Harold was fantastic! He was very personable and gave great demonstrations on how to make everything! Everyone in our group enjoyed this class and would recommend. It was also fun that it was at a local brewery so you could get a drink to enjoy while making your sushi as well.
