Cooking Class: Master Sushi-Making in a Day
In this hands-on cooking class, Chef Kevin will teach you the ancient Japanese art of rolling sushi! You’ll practice staple culinary techniques like knife skills and learn an expert's tips and techniques for rolling artful sushi rolls.
In this fun class, Chef Kevin will walk you through rolling, plating and garnishing two of the most popular sushi rolls: the Philadelphia roll and a rainbow roll. You'll get to learn about working with fresh fish and how to slice and arrange ingredients within the roll itself. After this class, you'll be armed with top-notch skills so you can prepare homemade sushi to impress your friends and family at your next dinner party!
Cooking classes on Classpop! are designed to be social events that do not require any previous experience. Guests are welcome to purchase beer from the brewery to enjoy during the class.

I thought that Kevin brought a lot of energy and love to the class. He tried to make sure everyone followed along and got their questions answered. The main disappointment was simply the quality of the rice. It was undercooked (crunchy). Nobody wants crunchy undercooked rice in their sushi. And it wasn't seasoned much with the rice vinegar/sugar. It was rather bland. This may sound picky to some, but if you're making sushi, and the fundamental ingredient is bad, it kind of ruins all the gastronomic aspects of the experience (though I will say, he did pick out some good fish). Also, there was no wasabi, and we had to pretty much beg for soy sauce. I think he was just overextended. It was a big class, and he seemed to be constantly playing catch up. Don't think I would recommend this, unless you're doing it purely for the experience, and don't care what the sushi tastes like.

Keven was very helpful in teaching this new skill. He was really good at making sure that all in the group could see his demos. He had a great sense of humor. He made sure that we followed health code protocols and washed out hands. I would have liked to have had some wasabi and other sauces for the rolls. They were a little plain.
