Cooking Class: Sushi Making 101

With over two decades of sushi-making expertise stretching from California to Boston, Chef Harold is ready to share his knowledge with you. This sushi fundamentals class is free of gluten, nuts and dairy, and focuses on medium inside-out rolls, or uramaki, and hand rolls, or temaki. Begin the hands-on class with miso soup, then move on to mastering sushi rolling. You'll start with a shrimp tempura hand roll, then craft a delicious sweet potato hand roll. To finish, you'll learn the secrets to making a spicy tuna roll.

I went to the sushi-making class at Trillium in Seaport and had such a great time! Harold was fun, engaging, and made the class really enjoyable — plus the food was delicious. It’s an awesome date idea and a unique experience overall. For future events, it would be helpful to have a designated bartender upstairs since it was a bit inconvenient to go to the first floor multiple times for drinks. Also, given the large group size, I’d recommend the chef use a microphone so everyone can hear the explanations clearly.
