Team Building Activity: Team Building Sushi Roll Round-Up

Facilitate team bonding, creative thinking and fun as your team competes and eats together in this team building activity. With Chef Keith as your expert host, your team will get a complete crash-course in sushi-making. They'll learn to make sushi rice and two classic rolls before engaging in an exciting competition.


For this competition, the team will split into groups and put their minds together to create the most unique, best-tasting sushi roll in the room. Witness leaders, problem-solvers, innovators and team players use their strengths to work towards the win. Teams can be judged on their sushi's appearance, taste and creative flavor. Everyone will enjoy a team building activity that is lively, encourages socialization and includes tons of delicious fresh sushi!


MENU

All necessary utensils will be provided by the chef. The venue is required to have access to sinks nearby, tables set-up to prep and garbage containers. Chefs are able to arrive a minimum of 30 minutes in advance.


California Roll

With sushi rice, nori, crab/surimi, avocado and cucumber


Shrimp Tempura Roll

With sushi rice, nori, tempura shrimp, cucumber and avocado


Various "mix-in" Ingredients

With mango, jalapeño, sriracha mayonaisse, pineapple, teriyaki and more

This "cooking class" felt more like a casual dinner experience than an instructional session. The recipe-following approach lacked the expected teaching and proactive engagement with skills and ingredients. Unfortunately, there were off-putting transphobic comments made by the chef, making the atmosphere uncomfortable. I interjected since it is not ok to make comments degrading someone’s identity because of your lack of understanding. Also for the price, I came to cook not talk politics or feel uncomfortable. I was also surprised by some of the prep like washing lettuce, I get this needs to get done but everyone knows how to wash lettuce, focusing on the other aspects that most people don’t know would have been more beneficial. I do want to highlight that the end products were delicious. Hopefully changes are made to the format to elevate the experience.

Keith was great at demonstrating techniques and giving instruction and tips! His wife was very helpful as well. The sushi rolls were fun to make and delicious, especially with the super amazing fresh tuna. My husband and I enjoyed every minute!
