Team Building Activity: Mystery Box Match-Up

Bring your team together in this interactive team building activity led by Chef Janet!


Working in groups, you’ll open mystery ingredient boxes and use what’s inside to plan, cook and plate a creative dish. Each team will choose from five theme options: Mediterranean, balanced basics, breakfast for dinner, Asian-inspired or global fusion. With fresh produce, proteins and herbs at your station, you’ll brainstorm ideas, divide tasks and present your final dish. Chef Janet was great. She was very knowledgeable and attentive. We showed up a few minutes late and at the end of the class, she made sure to update us on the information we missed. I'd definitely attend one of her other courses.

Janet arrived totally prepared with everything we needed. She was collaborative and quickly read the room, providing the right amount of detail for our group. She circulated to all the teams while we were working, providing feedback and guidance. She learned everyone's names - impressive! Her facilitation made everything run smoothly, so we could enjoy a fun team building event. I would definitely recommend her class!

Janet was great at instructing us on how to make homemade pasta. She brought the beef and pasta sauce, so you’re not cooking that part. I liked it this way, because after a long work day I wasn’t wanting to make all parts of a pasta ourselves. It was focused on making the dough, pressing it and then cutting it. I like that it was at a brewery. We could grab a beer while cooking. She was great about walking around and giving us tips to make sure we are doing the steps just right.

Chef Janet has been cooking for as long as she can remember and she loves sharing that joy with others. Her passion is helping people feel confident, creative and at ease in the kitchen. After attending culinary school in the 1980s, Chef Janet deepened her culinary journey while living in Taiwan and Hong Kong, where she also began her career as a high school teacher. For decades, she’s been teaching a wide range of cooking classes, on and off, always with the same goal: to empower others through food. Nothing makes her happier than seeing the spark of joy and pride when someone masters a new skill.
