Janet arrived totally prepared with everything we needed. She was collaborative and quickly read the room, providing the right amount of detail for our group. She circulated to all the teams while we were working, providing feedback and guidance. She learned everyone's names - impressive! Her facilitation made everything run smoothly, so we could enjoy a fun team building event. I would definitely recommend her class!

Janet was great at instructing us on how to make homemade pasta. She brought the beef and pasta sauce, so you’re not cooking that part. I liked it this way, because after a long work day I wasn’t wanting to make all parts of a pasta ourselves. It was focused on making the dough, pressing it and then cutting it. I like that it was at a brewery. We could grab a beer while cooking. She was great about walking around and giving us tips to make sure we are doing the steps just right.

I feel like the 4 stars is so wrong for rating Chef Janet and to tell you the truth, this would be 5 stars because she rocks. The problem that I had was I was told that it was BYOB, but I wasn't told that it was a $23.00 cork fee. Although I had my own bottle opener, wine and glasses, I was charged..........a little irritated, but the rest of the evening was lovely. Just watch out if you are BYOB.

Chef Janet was terrific. We did a dumpling making class as a family bonding experience. We had 5 kids ages 17, 18, 18, 20, 22 and four parents and we all had a great time. Chef Janet brings everything and we all worked around the island in our kitchen. We made 2 types of dumplings and a sesame seed / red bean paste dessert. So delicious and fun. You should arrange a class with Chef Janet!!!

We really had a great time. The venue was unique and fun! The class set up was organized. The Chef explained each food item in detail. Clearly explained any possible food allergies. Also explained possible options when purchasing items in store which was great. When demonstrating the steps she was visual and explained in detail what to do including safety precautions. It was so much fun. I would love to do another.

Chef Janet is wonderful! Ours was an unusual situation: we received 9 inches of snow in our region, but her part of Chicagoland only had a couple of inches. She was kind and helpful, working with ClassPop! to help us reschedule. Since this class was part of a gift to my 82-year-old father-in-law and the roads improved, we did attend. He had a fabulous time, thanks to Chef Janet. My husband loved the class, too, and now wants to make his own pasta at home. 10/10; Chef Janet for the win!

Chef Janet was very sweet hence the 3 stars. Almost don’t want to leave the review but wish I knew before I booked. The class was subpar at best. Not worth the money. The venue was a grungy bar, the pasta tasted meh and the whole experience was just uninspiring. I wouldn’t recommend, there are much better classes available.

Chef Janet turned a space within a distillery into a perfectly functional pasta cooking class. The class was straightforward and easy to follow. (It was my first time making pasta from scratch.) She created a good energy throughout the class, and everyone participated. It was during happy hour at the distillery too, so you can get drinks served to you if you partake.

We had such a great time at the pasta-making class with Chef Janet! The team competition element made it extra fun — we loved creating our own dishes and then taste-testing and ranking each other’s pastas. Having the option to make two different types of pasta was a nice touch too. It was a blast learning how to make pasta dough from scratch and use the pasta machine — a first for most of us! That part was definitely a highlight. One bit of feedback: it would’ve been helpful to get recipe examples or tips on how to tell when the pasta is fully cooked. The class leaned more toward fun than formal instruction, so we didn’t leave feeling like we could do it all on our own, but we definitely had a great time trying. Overall, a really enjoyable and engaging experience — would recommend for a fun group activity!

Chef Janet was outstanding. The venue at Temperence Beer was not. Instead of having us in a section of the bar, they put us in the back where the beer is made. 4 Long tables were set up. Ours was 8 feet from the drain where they release the excess beer and yeast from the bottom of the steel vats. It was an unpleasant smell. This was especially unprofessional for a class in which we were to be working with chocolate. Others felt the same. This has no bearing on Chef Janet. She was a trooper. She did the best she could under not so special facilities. Put Janet in another venue that is adequate for any type of dessert or entre preparation education, and you have a 5- Star Experience. It is ClassPop's responsibility to provide a fair venue, not Chef Janet. Chef Janet..... 5- Star Location Venue..... 1.5- Star

This sushi class was great! Chef Janet showed us how to assemble sushi in an easy and fun way. We didn't need to bring any supplies other than ourselves. We made enough sushi to enjoy in and out of the class. Sushi is far less intimidating now thanks to Chef Janet. I hope to take more of her classes in the future!

Chef Janet is awesome! The scheduling was easy, she drove a ways to accommodate our location and came fully prepared for a fun, informative, and food-filled night. The communication level was just right. During our experience, we prepared ravioli and cannoli! When Chef left we felt competent in our ability to prepare on our own and had fun doing it! Chef Janet was kind but I didn’t expect the class to be a bit better. We used paper plates, we were in close proximity with others, and it was in the middle of brewery that had alters inside and even witchcraft and demonology papers plastered all over the bathroom so it was a bit uncomfortable at first. Luckily I was there with a close friend so we made it a fun evening. I would not take another class not at this location atleast.

Very overpriced for what you get, basically rolling pasta dough in the middle of the brewery - with little instruction or tools. The alfredo sauce and chicken lacked flavor and were not “instructed” to us at all, rather the instructor dumped them in a pot and left us to talk in small groups. The “facilities” of the cooking class were various burners set up on a plastic tablecloth, that blew the fuse several times causing the cooking food to go cold. It wasn’t a bad evening but grossly overpriced and left a grimy feeling in your mouth.

In Chef Janet's taco cooking class, we started off by making tortilla shells from scratch, which added a hands-on element to the experience. The variety of toppings and proteins she provided allowed for a diverse range of flavor combinations. Chef Janet was well-prepared and approachable, making the class beginner-friendly. Janet was wonderful! Food was great, class was fun. My only complaint is that it’s hard to hear her at times because you’re sitting in the middle of a brewery with children yelling and running around. I realize this is not reflection of Janet’s teaching skills, 5 stars there! Also I would recommend bringing tubberware to bring home any extras.

Chef Janet was great, however we signed up for a sushi making class and walked into a pasta making class. Chef Janet was gracious and apologized for the mistake. But we were unable to enjoy the full experience due to our dietary restrictions. The pasta class was not vegan friendly so we could not eat. This was a little disappointing.

She was generous with ingredients and the encouragement to make the rolls to our own liking. Whilst I am sure Chef Janet is a wonderful person, this class fell short in too many ways to warrant anything more than one star. Indeed, a refund would be more appropriate. The equipment was lacking (not enough bowls, blunt knives) and the quality of the ingredients was poor (rotten mangos and avocados which I understand happens with fresh ingredients, but she was reluctant to swap them out). Worst of all was that she washed the sushi rice in the bar toilets! I couldn’t believe this and we couldn’t eat anymore of the sushi rice or food. Hygiene should be a basic standard, and in no world would it ever be appropriate to wash food for human consumption in a public restroom. The toilets were not the cleanest, and there were cockroach traps in there too so this was far beyond appropriate. I was appalled and this is just unforgivable. I have no idea why she did that when the bar had water for humans and I am sure would have provided it. We didn’t learn anything from the class as we couldn’t see her well from the table available to us, further she would begin one thing and then not follow up with instruction. She did mention that she wasn’t scheduled to teach the class but honestly, she shouldn’t have taught a class she wasn’t comfortable with. Please can someone get in touch with me on this review?

I recently took Janet Cobb's wonderful cooking class. We made Sushi and California rolls. Janet is such a good teacher and made the experience so enjoyable! She had all the equipment ready at our places and walked us through the process step by step. We learned how to prep the fillings and roll each piece. I felt so accomplished when I finished. And it tasted great!

Pot stickers are way too delicious and complicated for me to ever make, right? Wrong. Janet stepped us patiently through the process of blending ground meats, chopping vegetables and mixing in seasoning. Just doing that much took the mystery out of pot stickers, but Janet even taught us how to make the dough covering part. She had also provided store-bought frozen shells, but I soon found that the dough I had was heartier. When we tasted our finished creations, I was shocked by how well we had done. Janet provided an excellent recipe and made learning it fun. She helped us feel successful. I had a great time.
