We had a great evening with Greg. Not only did he help teach us the proper way to prepare food, but he also gave us insight into how to combine different foods together. It was fun and interactive, but you could choose the level of interaction you wanted. Food was great and we were all pleased!

The class ended up being at a random dive bar, not horrible just a bit weird. The class felt like it could have easily been done in an hour instead of 2. The added conversation felt forced just so the class could make the full two hours. The quality of the food and materials was as expected, not obviously fresh but not going to make you sick. If the table was larger it would have also added to the experience. It was almost a juggling act or game of hot potato to get room to make the rolls. Chef Greg gave enough information to get the job done, and figure out how to make it at home. He did let us take home extra materials due to some no shows, which is highly appreciated and kind of him. I wouldn’t necessarily say this was a great class but it wasn’t bad either. Weird or awkward would be the best description.

This was a very disappointing experience. The only reason we enjoyed it because we had nice people in our table, but they were quite a few issues that will cause me to never recommend this activity again. First of all the Sushi rollers were disgustingly, dirty, covered with a Ziploc bag, like supposed to be, however, They obviously do not replace those Ziploc bags, and there was actually black mold growing inside the roller inside the Ziploc bag which looked like we use for probably a year already. Chef Greg was asked a few questions and was far from being knowledgeable about the answers. He was too busy, promoting his other businesses and catering service That he couldn’t even tell us what pepper he is serving us. Every guest got one napkin and there were no extra napkins. How do you make three rolls of sushi with one napkin to clean yourself with? The tables were tiny and even though they were extra tables, we were not offered or allowed to use an extra small table. The wine bar we were at was very nice and clean with great service, but the sushi making experience was not at all what I have experienced in the past. The tuna that was served had a different colors, and quite a few other things that were disappointing, and on the verge of being disgusting. My wife and I refused to eat most of the food, which we never have a problem with. It was just that not sanitary. I hate living bad reviews, but this was one of the most disappointing experiences. I’ve been to in the last few years, and trust me, I do a lot of those activities with my wife, so I have a lot. I can compare this to.

Chef Greg was very nice. He also made amazing sauces that probably saved the meal. However, The format does not work as well as it could .It was incredibly slow paced . A lot of single ingredients were shared around three tables. For the amount you pay I would have expected higher quality fish. The little mini shrimp sent me. Throw some salmon in there you know. Sharing ingredients among 12ish people just really kept the pace slow. Definitely easy to learn in the way he taught. It was just way too big of a group. More intimate group would have been more enjoyable. When I purchased I was not aware this was a group purchase. Overall, I do think chef Greg is a nice guy And he has his sauce game down. The group was just too big and it was hard to pay attention sitting there. Waiting 5 minutes between steps . For class pop feedback: Also my peers who purchased this gift for me paid 130 for 190 via Groupon, but the event was only 120. The difference was not credited to a future class pop event , nor where my peers reimbursed for the difference. Kind of falls advertising going through Groupon. But I didn't buy it. It was a gift. Unfortunate that they could have bought directly and not wasted 10 bucks. I do hope he can pocket that difference though.

This was such a wonderful experience for my girlfriend and me! Chef Greg taught us so many great cooking tips and let us take the helm on preparing the appetizer and dinner. The food was amazing and he seemed to have as much fun as we did. He shared his experience through the years and fun stories in the kitchen, including how he finds inspiration for new recipes with sauces/seasonings to match them. I would highly recommend anyone to take this class - whether as a date or group event!

Very nice man but there is no charcuterie board training and the fresh mozz isn't like how we made in NJ or Italy. No recipes shared unless you ask. Still fun but I won't go back.

Class was only about an hour long. The rest was instructor talking about himself. Needed clearer instructions. Several people took more than their portion of ingredients and others were left with none.

Worst cooking class I have ever taken. If zero out of 5 star was an option to select thats what I would choose. Sushi rice was cold, the teacher knew nothing about sushi, I felt like I knew more about making sushi than the actual teacher. I will NEVER order cooking lessons through classpop or groupon. HUGE waste of money and time. I would have rather have gone out to a nice restaurant for $110. I would not recommend. Felt like I got scammed/robbed.

I had an excellent time with Chef Greg. I love how personable he is, and I loved hearing about how he became a chef. I think Chef Greg did an awesome job being able to critique us without making us seem like we're just doing a bad job all together. Sushi rolling is a tough skill, so I admire the patience Chef Greg had, because if he's teaching these classes for beginners every week, you need a lot of patience. haha. I enjoyed my time, and recommend taking Chef Greg's class - whatever culinary class he teaches.

I received this class as a gift and unfortunately I was really disappointed. Honestly it felt like he didn’t know what he was doing. We only made 2 sushi rolls and made Vietnamese spring rolls. The rice he brought was undercooked and hard. He himself had a lot of trouble rolling the sushi and blamed it on the nori. Definitely not worth the price or trouble of coming to Scottsdale. We also ended with more than 30 minutes extra.

Honestly there were not enough seats for 4 people. We ended up leaving. Chef was very nice and i dont want to bash him. We were 5 minutes late and there was no where to sit and everyone already had drinks and were well into the process which is confusing why it didnt start at 4. We traveled all the way from san tan valley and had to leave.

The location was in the middle of a random pizza joint. We were making sushi on top of styrofoam plates. The experience was ok, but we expected it to be a bit classier. The chef was okay. He seemed to know the basics but didn’t describe each step very well. He had to repeat it a few times before we understood. I’m not sure we’d do something like this through your company again. It seemed low grade for how much we paid.

The event could have been executed better. The chef had the entire class share two containers of water to dip their hands in to help spread the rice without it sticking to your hands (this was kinda gross as not everyone had washed their hands). When people requested for gloves, he seemed to get offended about it and stated that real chefs don't use gloves. We ran out of ingredients and there weren't enough supplies for the amount of people that showed up. For instance, the entire class had to keep passing around just 2 knives just so all 20+ could use them to cut veggies, raw fish, and the rolls. He was quite rude to one girl about how she made her sushi even though it was probably everyone's first time.

It's unfortunate, because Chef Greg, was a NO SHOW! Already emailed about getting a refund. Only 1 star, more for the hosting site, Helton Brewing Co, in Phoenix. Great, rustic, urban decor and atmosphere, great beer flight and appetizer, I ended spending while there after waiting an hour. This wa as part of experience, theme Christmas gift for my husband, that some would consider a total bust. But...we made the best of it and will await refund and really should get something extra for the 30 min drive there and wait! Kim McCarthy

The class was scheduled to start at noon at Helton Brewing today. The owner of the venue hosting Golden Apron, Brian Helton called Chef Greg at least a dozen times with calls going straight into voice mail. The class was completely full; we all finally left about 12:45pm. Chef eventually showed up at 1:10pm claiming he was told started at 1pm. (still late)-Chef Greg went to his car to show proof of his confirmation email of 1 pm start time yet got in his car and left instead without any apology or further communication. I paid for 4 people and expect a full refund.($180) We wasted our money and time waiting-very unprofessional and disappointed with Golden Apron. Brian Helton, the owner of Helton Brewing was very responsive to the class and did all he could to reach Chef Greg and even your corporate office-needless to say it was a extremely frustrating experience for the venue hosting as well as all of us who paid for the class.
