Not at all what I expected. My “cooking” experience consisted primarily of stirring a communal pot and putting a garnish on everyone’s bowl. We did not make our own individual ramen, and there was no chopping, measuring, or other preparation involved. We did make three different ramens, which was nice, but the experience was not individual or particularly hands-on. When booking, the class is described as “A fun, hands-on cooking class led by Chef Washington” and “A complete meal you’ll cook and enjoy yourself.” Those descriptions led me to expect a very different experience. During the class introduction, however, we were told that it would not actually be a hands-on cooking experience. I think the class description should be updated to more accurately reflect what participants will actually be doing. I was also disappointed with how my dietary restriction was handled. I disclosed that I am vegan when I booked the class two months in advance. Despite that, the instructor seemed surprised when he learned I was vegan and repeatedly asked questions such as whether I ate eggs, if a little fish sauce was okay, whether I ate chicken broth, or whether heavy cream was acceptable. The class description states that “Most dietary restrictions can be accommodated if noted prior to the event.” I did note mine in advance, so I expected it to have been communicated and planned for before the class. I did appreciate that the instructor altered one of the ramens so that I could participate. He then added the chicken broth after I had been served, so I was able to eat two of the three ramens that were prepared. Did I have a good time? Yes. But that’s more a reflection of me and my ability to have a good time almost anywhere than an indication that the class met my expectations. Would I do it again? No. Would I recommend it? Based on the way the class is currently described, no. In my opinion, the description does not accurately reflect the hands-on experience provided, and the handling of my dietary restriction was disappointing given that I had disclosed it two months in advance.

My spouse and I had a great time at chef Washington’s ramen cooking class. He is very personable and got to know all of us a bit before beginning the cooking portion of the class. The food was great and everyone else there had a great time as well. Thanks Chef!

Wonderful experience. Chef had 3 different ramens to taste. Don’t go into thinking you’ll cook everything yourself. This is an experience/social event that allows you to help cook. This is not a technical class. If you are interested in that you’ll need to book a more intimate experience.

Chef Washington and Chef Jane created an absolutely amazing Italian cooking class experience. Everything was perfectly organized and ready to go when we arrived, so we were able to jump right in and start cooking without any delay. The atmosphere was welcoming, relaxed, and fun—it truly felt like cooking with family. Both chefs were knowledgeable, patient, and passionate about the food they were teaching us to make. They shared great tips about the ingredients and techniques, which made the whole experience both educational and enjoyable. The class flowed really well, the company was great, and the environment made it easy to have fun while learning something new. Most importantly, the food turned out absolutely delicious! It was incredibly satisfying to cook such authentic dishes and then enjoy them together at the end. I would definitely book another class with Chef Washington and Chef Jane and highly recommend this experience to anyone looking for a fun, hands-on cooking class. It was a fantastic time from start to finish. 🍝👩‍🍳👨‍🍳

This class was very disappointing and not at all as advertised. The description made it seem like a hands-on cooking class, but it turned out to be more of a social event. At the start, the chef even gave a disclaimer that it wouldn’t be interactive, which was frustrating since that wasn’t mentioned beforehand. The food itself was not good, and the entire experience felt disorganized. The chef appeared uninterested and disengaged, and during the Q&A it seemed like he just wanted to get through it rather than teach or connect with the group. My friends and I were never invited to participate in any part of the cooking, despite being told we might get a chance to help. Overall, it felt like the chef was simply there to get paid and leave. If you’re looking for a true hands-on ramen class where you can learn and cook, this is not it.

I liked the class, but wish we had recipes to take with us. FOr e.g., I'd like to know what the ingredients were for the duck and lamb jerk fillings for those tacos. It was more like Chef was making us a meal (which was delicious) as opposed to us learning how to make it.

Epic.. a really great experience today with chef Washington. He brought it into a whole personal experience with friends, just cooking together. We were a team making some outstanding Mediterranean food. I would highly recommend this and hope to do it again soon! The only downfall wasn’t the chef or anything to do with him. It was the fact that I didn’t know a location of where it would take place until after I paid. Then it turned out being at our house, with friends. Which was fine and fun, but unexpected, And this was an impromptu booking. We were expecting/hoping it to be in a commercial kitchen somewhere. That being said, I’d do it again in our own kitchen, but with more time for us to prepare.

Chef Washington was fantastic. I get social anxiety very easily and this was my first cooking class experience, as well as my wife’s. Chef Washington is very easy to talk to and very friendly. Cannot recommend this experience enough, well worth it.

It was a lovely gift to purchase for my partner to celebrate valentines. Chef was a nice, likeable person. Only thing that raised an eyebrow - we were expecting super fresh ingredients given the cost of the class but some of the veggies were going bad frozen bagged seafood was used and canned preserved condiments like garlic. Expected something but more elected than what we got. Chef also was a bit out of it that day so we didn’t really get a lot of background context about the food, prep style, culture etc - just an assignment of tasks. Food came out good though; the flan was great!

My friend & I had a really great time eating delicious tacos and socializing with the other guests. It is important to know that most of the items on the menu are prepared beforehand and it's not as hands-on as most would expect. That was no issue with me. It was great helping out where I could & being served taco after taco. Looking forward to next class that I attend.

This is a very fun and satisfying experience. We shared pleasant discussion while we produced and tried a variety of different tacos with unique ingredients. Chef Washington is very effective in demonstrating and explaining his process and techniques.

This delightful three-course ramen tasting with Chef Washington was such a delicious time (: You won’t leave hungry!! Don’t go in expecting a hands-on cooking class, the fun is in getting to know Chef and folks you’re dining with, and trying the scrumptiousness and adventure of Chef Washington’s ramen recipes. It’s a cute time! We did the experience at Obec brewing, and it was nice to grab a beer and have some ambiance around us.

Chef Larson’s creativity is truly inspiring. He brought unexpected flavor combinations to a traditional Japanese dish. Rather than being just novel, the flavors combined in a way that had my wife and I discussing them long after the event.

This class was incredibly disappointing. We thought we were going to learn simple steps to making ramen, yet he had everything prepped and did not show anyone anything about preparing any of the dishes. We were served 3 variations of ramen that were microwaved and served in paper bowls. He unfortunately didn't even discuss how he did each dish. If you're looking for a cooking class, this is 100% not it.

One star for false advertising. We expected this to be a cooking class where we would learn new recipes and how to cook tacos. Instead we spent 55 dollars to eat 4 tacos made with store-bought sauces or topped with boxed salads from Safeway. The chef did not discuss his cooking process or guide us through any steps. He did not provide any recipes, discuss how we could replicate the dishes, or how to get good quality ingredients. If this class was advertised as an omakase-style taco dinner then maybe we would give 3 stars (because the quality of the ingredients and tacos themselves were at about 3), but the experience itself felt like a scam and we will be requesting a refund from class pop.
