Chef Pao was kind and respectful in his teaching and communications. I enjoyed the class, but he shortened the class by half due to low signups. I think it would be best to structure the class in a way where attendance doesn’t affect the length of the class. That way customers who paid for a full two hours get exactly that.

I had such a fantastic time at this sushi-making class! From start to finish, the experience was fun, hands-on, and incredibly informative. The instructor created a warm, welcoming environment and explained each step clearly, making the entire process approachable even for beginners. I loved learning the techniques behind preparing the rice, slicing the ingredients, and rolling everything together. The instructor offered helpful tips throughout, and there was plenty of time to practice and ask questions. The ingredients were super fresh, the pacing was perfect, and the final result — delicious sushi I made myself — was so satisfying. This class was the perfect mix of education and enjoyment. I left feeling confident, inspired, and excited to try making sushi at home. I highly recommend this class to anyone looking for a unique experience, whether you're a total beginner or already love cooking. I’d absolutely take it again!

We had such a great time at the Asian Appetizers cooking class! Chef Pao was engaging, knowledgeable, and made the experience fun and approachable. We learned how to make and roll both spring rolls and egg rolls, everything was hands-on, and the food was delicious. We had plenty to eat and even brought some home! One thing to note: we were a bit surprised when we arrived and realized the class was held in a residential home. We called the company, who confirmed it was Chef Pao’s home and the correct venue. It all worked out fine, but it would have been nice to know ahead of time for planning and expectations. That said, we’d definitely take another class with Chef Pao. Highly recommend for anyone who loves learning new cooking skills in a relaxed setting!

It was a very fun course. Chef Pao was very interesting and guided us well making the sushi. It was a lot easier than I previously thought. And delicious. I dropped 1 star for the location - we were not in the "usual" room due to another commitment and the backup room was not nearly as nice. Nevertheless, the class was fun, informative, and tasty.

Chef Pao was very welcoming and kind, easy to work with! This was a nice, private class with one other couple, and very basic - beginner skills learned. Not the class for you if you're looking to become an artisan sushi master but the perfect class to take to demystify the basic technique and to instill confidence to try making your own sushi at home. After this class, I feel 1000% confident that I can go out and get ingredients and make my own - Chef Pao gave lots of suggestions for local places to find ingredients.

Great instruction on how to prepare sushi - very thorough and explained simply. I feel that i could easily make it now. The setup of plastic ware and presentation was a bit glaring. It came off as a low grade operation. Investing in bowls and such from the dollar store would have gone a long way. The lack of a lid to bring the food home too was surprising. Because of these things, I wouldn’t do it again but I will say that Pao was very gracious and patient with his explanation. I think he could go far with experience and dishes

Chef Pao is patient and kind and taught us how to make a California roll and a spicy salmon roll. Although in true Minnesota fashion, we were a very quiet class, it was still a fun and lively way to learn. I really want to say that my sushi turned out perfectly, but that's simply untrue! :) It was delicious, however. I would recommend a class with Chef Pao to anyone looking to try something new and learn a little bit. I would not recommend going by yourself, as the the class was entirely made up of couples - not sure if that's because a cooking class like this makes a great date night so people are self selecting, or the natural anxiety of trying something this new requires a buddy, but bring your partner/mom/friend/tinder date along for the ride. Enjoy!

Chef Pao and this class was great! I was a little skeptical about booking, but it was a legit experience and you made two rolls per person. Definitely something I could go do at home now! The only strange part was the location.. very unique bar on the second floor of a commercial building. Don’t go for the atmosphere, but go because you’re looking for a fun and affordable date night!

As someone who loves sushi and likes to occasionally dabble in making it I actually learned a couple good tricks of the craft and I enjoyed the class. I originally bought it for my girlfriend and I but ended up being single so I went with my mom. We had a beer at the brewery and ended up having a great time. Chef Pao was eager to answer questions and help us through the process. Highly recommend.

We always enjoy Chef Pao's classes. They're informative and fun and there's always plenty to eat after! He can accomdate for vegetarians as well, so it is really inclusive. The potstickers class was fun and it was great to eat the food you made yourself. He also told us where we could buy the ingredients so we could keep up/practice our new skills at home. We'll keep an eye out for the next one!

Chef Pao's sushi class was great! We did the 5 course one (soup/salad, 3 rolls, mochi for dessert) and it was a TON of food. My mother even brought home her leftovers. The rice and veggies are precut/cooked but honestly I didn't come to a class to learn to cut things, I wanted to learn how to roll sushi, so this delivered! We learned two different ways of rolling sushi and it's a lot harder than it looks. Chef Pao gave us a thorough explanation on sushi in general and how to get the ingredients locally and was very encouraging. Some people in our class were better than others and he was very flexible on how to make our rolls presentable or if we missed a step he helped us adjust. We were very fortunate to take a class that was smaller sized and we got along well with the other group so at the end when you got to eat your own creations (you eat the rolls you specifically make), it was more like a meal with friends. Could not speak more highly of this class enough, we told everyone about it. Such a good deal for what you pay for. We signed up for another one of Chef Pao's classes and we're very excited for it!

Unfortunately, the pot stickers class was not really a cooking class. Everything came pre-prepped so we didn't learn how to actually make the filling or any new sauces. Also - this class was labeled as "pot stickers" which are typically lightly friend then steamed. The ones we made were completely deep fried (not matching the photo), so we only were able to eat a couple of them and left hungry.

This class was, unfortunately, not really a cooking class. The filling was made by the chef ahead of time, the wraps were purchased at a grocery store, and there were no sauces made from scratch. It was not interactive, and the chef seemed very distracted and disorganized, leaving us to fend for ourselves when it came to the cooking portion (which was just deep frying the potstickers). While the chef is incredibly kind and I enjoyed the few minutes I spoke with him, I would not recommend this class to anyone looking to learn the art of making potstickers (or any cooking skills).
