Spend time in a photography class at the Lincoln Park Zoo that will turn curious beginners into confident camera operators through hands-on exploration of manual settings. Set along scenic paths near Chicago’s lakefront, you’ll practice adjusting aperture, shutter speed and ISO while moving between sunlit boardwalks and shaded habitats. Skyline views and animal encounters will offer dynamic opportunities to test settings, refine technique and build confidence.
The instructor will demonstrate how to freeze a bird in motion, blur bustling crowds and balance exposure in tricky lighting. Concepts like depth of field, motion control and white balance will come to life through real-world shooting. With guided exercises and thoughtful feedback, you’ll learn to respond instinctively to changing scenes. By the end, your camera will feel less intimidating and far more powerful, giving you creative control beyond auto mode.
