Photography Class: Composition in the Field - Long Beach Sunset Shoot
Get creative in a photography class focused on composition in the field, set against the vibrant backdrop of a Long Beach sunset.
You'll explore techniques such as the rule of thirds, leading lines, framing and balancing foreground and background elements to create more engaging images. The session emphasizes working dynamically with changing light, shifting subjects and real-world environments rather than static setups. Along Long Beach’s shoreline, you’ll use natural elements like the curve of the coastline, palm trees, lifeguard towers and reflections on the water to build strong visual structure. You’ll also experiment with perspective shifts, layering and timing to capture people, waves and passing boats in compelling ways. By practicing in an active coastal setting, you’ll gain confidence and learn to quickly recognize and compose impactful shots while adapting to the natural rhythm of the scene.

Very nice group of people and made sure every detail was planned out thoroughly. Ron, who was our photographer instructor, was very good as laying out how our camera works. Very nice introduction.
