Cooking Class: Roll Your Own Sushi With Chef Debbie
Learn how to roll your own sushi in this fun, hands-on cooking class, perfect for beginners!
Guided by Chef Debbie, you’ll start with the basics: how to handle sushi rice, layer ingredients and roll with confidence using a bamboo mat. You’ll make two popular rolls: the classic California roll with avocado, surimi and cucumber and a refreshing veggie roll with mango, avocado and cucumber. Along the way, you’ll pick up tips on knife skills, presentation and how to balance flavor and texture. Come for the sushi, stay for the satisfaction of saying “I made that!”

Chef Debbie was energetic and fun ! We enjoyed making pasta from scratch for the first time, and it was delicious ! Would highly recommend as a fun date for something different.

Chef Debbie's course was located at the Lost Worlds Brewing at midtown Charlotte at the Metropolitan. Class size of about 10. We made different types of pasta and various sauces. I'm excited to try out my new cooking skills at home.

Chef Debbie is a seasoned culinary professional with over a decade of experience in food service management and culinary arts. Trained in both culinary and pastry disciplines, she specializes in adaptive menu development, kitchen leadership and community-focused food initiatives. As a former managing chef for a residential monastery, she brings strong organizational skills and a deep sense of hospitality. Passionate about teaching, she creates inclusive, engaging cooking experiences that highlight creativity, teamwork and flavor.
