I was unfortunately pretty disappointed in this gnocchi cooking class. While Chef Jason was friendly, personable, and added some humor to the evening, that was really the only highlight. The venue itself felt awkward and poorly suited for a hands-on cooking experience. The space was overcrowded, making it hard to see or hear what was going on. I could barely hear the chef’s instructions. He also shared everything all at once rather than breaking it down in steps. Sanitation was also a concern. We were not directed to wash our hands at any point, despite everyone sharing ingredients and pulling flour from the same bin. For a food-focused event, that felt like a big oversight. In terms of the actual cooking, it was underwhelming. We simply mixed four ingredients together—something that could have easily been done at home with a quick YouTube tutorial. I was hoping for a more educational and immersive experience, but it felt more like a rushed group activity than a proper class. Overall, the class lacked the structure, sanitation, and depth I would expect from a cooking class—and I left feeling like I hadn’t really learned anything.

Chef Jason is the kind of instructor you hope to get in any cooking class: skilled, approachable, and genuinely invested in helping you learn. I took his gnocchi class and left not only full from the all gnocchi we made (and ate) along with the sauces to pair, but with a fun memory with my partner and a few new tricks I’ll actually use in the kitchen. He kept instructions clear and easy to follow, weaving in tips that apply to more than just gnocchi. Things like how to choose the right ingredients, where to find quality produce, and simple techniques that make a real difference. It was the kind of insight that goes a long way. What really stood out was how grounded he is. From the start, the class felt relaxed and welcoming. A guy with just a real passion for food and for helping people learn.
