Really disappointed with this one. Thought it would be a fun date night and he rushed through all the instructions, got frustrated with you and his wife if the pasta was wrong, and disappeared when you were actually having to use the pasta machine. Also, he had maybe one full functioning pasta machine and blamed the issues on the machines from the last class he took. So we all stood around waiting to use the one functional machine. He spent more time talking up himself, or promoting the things he sold than actually giving history or information about pasta making. And once you were actually done eating your food, he just disappeared to do dishes and didn’t have any thank you’s or questions/suggestions. My husband and I made it a great time together, but such a waste of $150. Do NOT recommend.

This was a great date night. I enjoyed Chef Dix immensely. I would recommend this event to everyone looking for fun!!

The venue was cool a bar downstairs that you can bring your drink up to the class. Ample space upstairs for our large group. Chef Dix had a station set up for everyone beforehand and showed up step by step what to do. There was some waiting involved since we were a large group but we socialized and sipped on our drinks while we waited. He gave up some recipes and had enough pasta for a meal. We each got to create our own sauce for our freshly made pasta (tomato basil, pesto or alfredo). I had a great time and the class met my expectations! We ate pretty late 8:40ish, so I would advise to eat something beforehand so you don’t get hangry. Highly recommended!!!

He was upbeat, but class too large for 2 pasta machines. When demonstrated, we were way too far away to see. Also, only instructions to make dough was add everything together and just add oil or water as you want!? Mine was too dense, my husband’s too sticky.
Luckily, there were nice people sitting around us

Very nice evening. Chef is very knowledgeable and entertaining.. Wes a memorable experience to learn how to make fresh pasta and sauces. Highly recommend it.

Chef Dix was a lot of fun and the class ran flawlessly. We made homemade pasta with a yummy Basil marinara. I would definitely take a class from him again.

Debbie from 22, May 2026's review is spot on. Check Dix is a nice guy. The first 30-45 minutes were spent talking about how he ended up in Pittsburgh and his 4 other jobs. At the end of class he had his own spice mixes for sale. My class in July 2026, was from 7-9 and set for 20 people. 14 people attended. We were given a small baggie of premeasured flour and a container with the egg. I was disappointed we were not given premeasured water/oil and had to figure that out on our own while Chef Dix ran back and forth between rooms to check on cooking pasta and oversee guests using one of three pasta machines for use by an expected class of 20. I would suggest a smaller class size, written pasta and sauce instructions, a couple more pasta rollers and an assistant to help cook pasta while he gives hands on assistance to those struggling with dough consistency and rolling pasta. There were a few of us that struggled with the dough consistency and felt we were left to figure it out on our own. I ended up asking google how to fix my dough. Chef Dix appeared overwhelmed at one point and gave pizza cutters and instructed those having issues to use those and cut their dough into trips. A couple people in my class got creative and turned their unmanaged pasta into gnocchi. I may not have been able to make the fettuccini noodles in this class, but now I know how to make Eat n Park Chicken Noodle soup noodles! The pasta taste overall was good. He showed us how to make scratch made Alfredo sauce which was also very good. The red sauce pasta smelled delicious; not sure what the base was as it was in an unmarked plastic soup container that you would scoop into your pan and then add additional seasonings to. I gave 3 stars because he taught me how to make pasta and alfredo sauce, which was the goal. Honestly, I would not attend another session with Chef Dix unless the suggestions above were addressed.

Amazing and fun teacher/chef. Definitely would recommend. So worth it for the price and the way Chef Dix presented it.

Fun evening doing something different. Chef Dix has a great personality. Only feedback I have is to have more stations for larger groups or more hands to help, but otherwise a fun time!

Information provided to us through Viator was that class was being conducted at Space Bar, 22 Market Square, Pittsburgh. Chef did not show up for this class and owner of Space Bar had no idea class had been scheduled there. Needless to say, we did not get to attend class and expect a 100% refund.

Chef was very entertaining. The bar ( space bar) had a great theme and very unique drinks, but our space to work at the bar tables was not great. Very cramped, not a kitchen. We learned the basics of making sushi, make 3 kinds took about an hour. We all enjoyed the process and the sushi.

A little chaotic, too many people in the class, table set up not ideal, no water or drinks provided, no recipe or.proportions provided, not great direction given, pasta machines didn't work great, definitely needed an extra hand with how many pots he was trying to juggle, pasta wasn't cooked enough, mostly had to figure sauce on your own, I made Alfredo sauce, he forgot I needed flour, had to remind him, just in general too chaotic. The location was on the second floor, and not generally clean, especially the restrooms.

Chef Dix is a great instructor and entertainer. The class was informative and the ingredients delicious. Don’t hesitate to take one of his classes! It was a lot of fun!

Chef Dix was awesome! Personable, structured, and authentic. One man band and it was def a good experience! Getting the pasta to the right consistency was a struggle for a while but it worked out! Thanks Chef Dix! Great pics for my scrapbook!

The pasta and sauce making class was fantastic! The instructor did a great job breaking down each step, making the process approachable even for beginners. I especially loved learning how to make fresh pasta from scratch and pairing it with a simple but flavorful sauce. The atmosphere was relaxed, fun, and interactive. I left feeling confident that I can recreate the recipes at home. Highly recommend this class to anyone who loves cooking or wants to improve their kitchen skills!

Chef Dix’s class was such a great experience. The atmosphere was fun, relaxed, and welcoming, and we enjoyed meeting several other lovely couples while learning together. Chef Dix created a laid-back environment that made the whole evening feel easy and enjoyable. Wishing Chef Dix all the best moving forward. Thank you for a wonderful class!
One small note for the venue: it would have been helpful if the bar staff had communicated to Chef Dix that several of us had already arrived. There was plenty of space upstairs for us to wait, but we were mostly ignored by the bar staff and at times felt a bit like we were in the way. Clearer communication would have made the arrival experience smoother. Overall though, we had a lovely time.

I thought it was going to be a boring cooking class, but it was fun. We will tell a friend to tell a friend. Chef Dix’s was dope when it was time to eat. I didn’t think I was not going to like the pasta I made, but it was a chef’s kiss good. Thanks for the great experience. We will be back soon.

Chef Dix made homemade pasta and sauce super simple. The class was in an interesting location (Space Bar) which enhanced the experience. We totally enjoyed the class and banter. Looking forward to the next class!

Chef Dix was very nice, however there was very limited instruction and the demonstrations that were done you were not able to see. It was disappointing that the description was made from scratch sushi but there was no explanation of how the rice was made other than in a rice cooker, the salmon was store bought vacuum packs from giant eagle as were all of the sauces, and there were two bowls with wet towels to wipe off your knife that was expected to be shared by everyone, did not seem like the most sanitary option. It was not even close to what we expected and ended up leaving after making the first roll.

We wanted to love this class, but we didn’t. He only had one station set up for each part of the process, so we were still working on making our noodles when others had moved onto their sauce. We felt like we were being rushed to catch up. When we struggled to get the right consistency in our dough, we felt like we were left to figure it out on our own while everyone else moved on. This type of class could definitely benefit from work stations prepped for each couple rather than full groups sharing one tool.

This was so fun!!! Chef Dix was very informative and helpful! We had a great time - he was more than just telling us what to do. He was really funny too. Definitely would recommend!

Let me start by saying that he is a nice guy. I respect a person who is hustling to make a living. Having said that, we were disappointed. The night ended because the restaurant blew a fuse and we couldn’t boil the pasta or make the sauce. He was gracious enough to give us the ingredients to finish at home.
My biggest criticism is the class was from 7-9 pm. We didn’t start doing anything until 7:45 pm. Organization skills need improvement.
We expected to eat the pasta and sauce we were making, instead had to spend another $25 on pizza.
Great concept, terrible execution.
