Cooking Class: Culinary Tour of India

Join Chef Vinutha for a culinary tour of India as you learn how to create popular Indian dishes from scratch in this immersive cooking class. She'll teach you everything you need to know to master this cuisine, from balancing complex spices and flavor profiles to creating savory, wholesome vegetarian dishes. To start, you'll begin the class by folding and frying crispy, doughy samosas stuffed with a potato filling. Next, you'll cook traditional palak paratha flatbread in anise oil, which you'll enjoy alongside creamy kofta curry and deep-fried vegetable fritters. Lastly, you'll end on a sweet note and prepare coconut burfi, a kind of traditional Indian fudge, for dessert.

I've had the good fortune to take Chef Vinutha's virtual South Indian cooking classes and I can attest to learning a great deal of not only the process of following a recipe and making the dish but also the why behind using certain ingredients and the cultural importance of food in a South Indian milieu. Chef Vinutha has exceptional interpersonal and communication skills. She is a natural teacher and makes even the most difficult technique understandable to the newbie cook. She expresses ideas and processes clearly in a very precise and orderly fashion. She is passionate about her cooking and her culinary expertise encompasses many other ethnic foods. Her recipe and menu designs are both traditional and innovative and highlight her creative approach to every meal she prepares. I look forward to future classes with her.
