Cooking Class: Persian Delight

Explore the beautiful flavors of Persian cuisine in this hands-on cooking class with Chef Mab. This unique and eclectic menu features foods celebrated on the Iranian New Year — these dishes bring the freshness of the Caspian sea right to your kitchen. You’ll start by cooking a kuku sabzi, a Persian frittata made with fresh herbs. Next are fillets of white fish seasoned with flour, saffron and sour oranges, and served over a bed of herbed rice. For dessert, you’ll prepare lush Persian-style caramels with saffron, nuts and rosewater.

Kuku Sabzi 

With garlic, spinach, leeks, scallions, egg, walnuts and barberries


Pan-Fried White Fish 

With saffron, seasoned flour and sour oranges


Seasoned Rice With Tahdig 

With rice, garlic, chive, parsley, cilantro, dill and saffron


Mast-o Khiar 

With yogurt, Persian cucumber, dried mint, raisins, walnuts and rose petals


Sohan Asali 

With honey, saffron, slivered almonds, pistachios and rosewater

Chef Mab was fantastic and engaging! She has extensive culinary knowledge and is a wonderful teacher! She was passionate about sharing her love of Persion cuisine with us. We learned some very helpful techniques and enjoyed our class immensely. I highly recommend Chef Mab to anyone in the LA area!

Chef Maub is a talented woman driven by purpose and passion. When it comes to the kitchen, her culinary style is inspired by the traditional cooking techniques and "made-from-scratch" recipes that reflect her Persian roots, and more specifically, her family in Iran. She's also a passionate eco-feminist writer and storyteller, as well as a mindfulness and meditation teacher. You may have seen Chef Maub featured in Saveur Magazine or New York Magazine's Grubstreet, or found yourself listening to a story about her on KCRW's "Good Food" on National Public Radio. In all aspects of her life, Chef Maub strives to live with intention and encourage others to do the same.
