Cooking Class: Foundational Japanese Sauces

Learn to prepare a four-course Japanese menu based on the foundational sauces used in everyday Japanese cooking in this hands-on class with Chef Matt. Sa, Shi, Su, Se and So (sugar, salt, vinegar, soy, and miso) are the five elements that form the foundation of all Japanese sauces. The elements are used alone or in combination, enhancing the natural flavors of the ingredients in your dishes. You'll incorporate these sauces into a few traditional Japanese recipes like umami-packed teriyaki chicken and crunchy California vegetable rolls.

With soy sauce, sake, mirin and citrus


California Vegetable Rolls

With avocado, cucumber, yuzu juice, soy sauce and ponzu sauce
